The transition of the Velur Primary Health Centre into a Family Health Centre (FHC) in 2017 has been a transformative milestone for the community. Today, it stands as a model healthcare institution, rivaling private hospitals with its modern facilities and patient-centric approach.

1. Superior Infrastructure and Services

  • Operating Hours: Providing consistent care from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM with the dedicated service of four doctors.

  • Modern Facilities: Features a state-of-the-art waiting area, modernized ticket counters, and a pharmacy.

  • Digital Leadership: It is home to the district's first E-Health system, streamlining patient records and services.

  • Daily Footfall: Over 300 patients visit daily, including residents from neighboring panchayats and migrant workers.

2. Advanced Diagnostics (Laboratory)

The lab operates at a high standard, offering comprehensive testing at affordable rates.

  • Extensive Testing: Conducts over 60 types of tests. Every month, approximately 1,200 patients benefit from nearly 3,200 examinations.

  • New Equipment: Recently installed Electrolyte Analysers and facilities for HbA1c tests.

  • Free Care: Testing is free for categories such as TSSK, RBSK, ANTCP, and EP.

  • Diagnostic Support: Services include ECG, Observation beds, and Rabies vaccinations.

3. Pharmacy and Specialized Clinics

The FHC ensures that financial constraints never hinder medical treatment.

  • Medicine Availability: Beyond government supplies, the Panchayat uses project funds for local purchases to ensure no medicine goes out of stock.

  • Lifestyle Diseases: Managing 2,086 Hypertension patients and 639 Diabetes patients, with monthly medication distributed to over 730 people.

  • Specialty Clinics: Weekly clinics for Geriatic care, Maternity care (ANC), Palliative care (Aswasini), and Lifestyle diseases.

  • Teleconsultation: Access to specialist doctors is provided via the E-Sanjeevani online platform.

4. Legacy of Crisis Management

The FHC’s leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic was exemplary.

  • CFLTC: Managed a 500-bed isolation and treatment facility at Vidya Engineering College.

  • Vaccination: Conducted numerous Mega Vaccination Camps for over 1,000 participants at a time, playing a crucial role in curbing the pandemic.
